A day in the Life of a 5th Yr Medical student in Accident & Emergency
Hey Lovelies,I've seen quite a few medical bloggers do this, so I thought why not jump on the bandwagon while I'm still a medical student! For those who do not know, I am in my final year of medical school where I am currently doing my accident & emergency rotation. For this rotation my timetable is currently all over the place, some days I start at 8am, 12pm or 10pm!
06:30 Alarm goes off
- It takes me a while to get out of bed. I snooze my alarm at least three times before I get out of bed
- I shower, get dressed
- I did not have time to make breakfast so I just had some fruits.
- My hospital is actually about 1 hr drive away from where I live.
- Have coffee in the staff room
- First case for the day is a case I will probably never forget, I still find it hard to believe that it actually happened. A teenage girl came in with abdo pain and vaginal bleeding. But we actually discovered that she was in labour, but she was not aware that she was pregnant.
- Vomiting blood
- Ankle fracture
- Syncope (faint)
13:00 Back to A&E Department
- Did a few Jobs- cannulations, taking bloods
- Cases- Vomiting, confusion
17:25 Home
- Seems to be always traffic on the way back home, so got home later than usual
- I procrastinate for a good 40 mins- I check all my social media, make phone calls, and catch up with my housemates.
19:12 Dinner
20:15 Portfolio work/ study- Today I caught up with a show that I am just a little to addicted to. Love & Hip Hop ATL
23:00 In bed
- It actually takes me about a good two hours before I fall asleep. I really need to work on this
